To whom it may concern,
My name is Kevin Protzmann, and I am a recent graduate of the Drake University with a degree in History. I have always thought that the influence of big money was keeping the voices of students like me out of the political process, but I never knew there was a way I could stop it.
I have begun working for a group that is attempting to stop the spread of this influence by raising awareness around the issue: Iowa Pays the Price. Given that both parties rarely agree on anything, I think it’s amazing that in a recent Des Moines Register poll 91% of Republican caucus goers and 94% of Democratic caucus goers were “mad as hell” with the amount of money in politics.
The growing discontent with politics is due to the fact that we see corruption and big money affecting important policy changes across the board. Both parties share the blame.
Whether your issue is climate change, LGBTQ rights, or criminal justice reform, undisclosed Super PACS are working against our interests. Iowans deserve transparency and accountability in our campaign finance system, a drastic shift from the system today.
Iowa Pays the Price is going to be at the Drake Campus this Monday from 11:00am to 4:00pm outside in high traffic areas to raise awareness on this issue. Be on the lookout and learn what you can do to help get money out of politics and return the power to the people.
