UPDATE: 10:05 p.m.
According to the Des Moines Register, the 20-year-old victim was shot in the buttocks at the corner of University Ave. and 23rd Street. He had just gotten his hair cut at Platinum Kutz and was waiting in the parking lot when he was shot.
Des Moines Police Sgt. Ryan Mann said the victim was taken to Mercy Medical Center with no serious injuries.
Police are still looking for the suspect who fled the scene on foot.
DMPD and Drake Public Safety will continue monitoring the Drake neighborhood.
UPDATE: 8:50 p.m.
At about 7:15 p.m. tonight an unknown male was shot on 23rd street outside of Platinum Kutz.
It is advisable to stay away from the Dogtown neighborhood, and report any suspicious activity.
At the time no one is at the crime scene.
Per a campus-wide alert, Drake Public Safety and Des Moines Police will increase patrols in the Drake area. Drake Public advises community members to travel with caution.
With the Bucksbaum lecture attracting hundreds of people to campus, there is an extra police presence at the Knapp Center.
