After winning their season opener on Thursday night, members of the Drake football team are facing a two-game suspension of their 11-game season.
An unknown number of players were sidelined after violating team policy.
“It’s unfortunately a good number of guys,” Drake head coach Chris Creighton said. “I mean that it’s a larger number than any of us would like it to be.”
The two-game suspension started on Thursday versus Grand View and will continue through the Sept. 8 game against Montana State.
Creighton said no players were arrested, although one player was written up in a residence hall.
He confirmed other than the one player written up, only football team policy was violated.
“It was an in-house, in-team policy,” Creighton said.
The staff of The Times-Delphic will be following up with this story throughout today and the weekend. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

It started on Thursday? So all the guys who played in the Grandview game weren’t the ones who were suspended?
