Former Alaskan Governor and potential Republican presidential candidate Sarah Palin did not announce her candidacy for the 2012 presidential election on Saturday at the “Restore America” rally put on by the Tea Party of America.
The rally took place in a field just outside of Indianola, IA where hundreds of supporters turned out to hear Palin speak despite pouring rain and thunderstorms throughout much of the morning.
Despite a foreboding forecast, Tea Party supporters flocked to the event by the dozens several hours before the event was supposed to start.
Palin spoke for approximate 45 minutes, starting at shortly after one o’clock. In her speech, Palin criticized the current administration for its lack of results and accused President Obama and Democrats of promoting “big government” and “mortgaging our children’s future”. She also outlined her plan to “Restore America” which included making America the leading energy producer in the world, eliminating the corporate income tax, and reforming Medicare and Medicaid all the while reducing the deficit through a series of budget cuts.
There was speculation that Palin might announce her candidacy for the Republican nomination for the 2012 presidential election at the rally, as many political pundits believed the time was ripe for such an announcement and if she waited too much longer it would be too late.

Memo to hack reporter. In politics they’re called supporters, not fans.
