The leaves are falling, and so is the temperature. Fall is my favorite season for many reasons. One reason is the excitement that stems from tucking away my gladiator sandals for my favorite Steve Madden leather boots. While most assume fall fashion only means the typical layering of chunky sweaters and scarves, there are many ways to add a chic twist to your fall debut.

Beanies are the unconditional solution for a bad hair day. Too often I have woken up with fifteen minutes to spare before class and grabbed my favorite beanie. Wearing a beanie is also a great way to stay warm on your walk across campus.
The “Drake Lakes” are real and they should not be trifled with. While wearing your rain boots every day may sound appealing, it is not exactly practical. Think about grabbing a pair of booties—ankle boots—with a shortened heel for your next venture. Side note: heels are a great way to add some height and self-confidence to your day, regardless of what side of the bed you woke up on.

Neckerchiefs are back and they are essential to adding the perfect amount of edge to any minimalist’s closet. Coach’s fall line was a pleasant mix of edgy and chic, from leather backpacks to the black neckties. We all have a handkerchief hanging around our room somewhere, but instead of tying it around your wrist, substitute it for your favorite scarf for a more edgy appeal.
Black jeans are a godsend. While everyone loves their favorite little black dress, it is getting cold and time to cover up (whether we like it or not). Pair your favorite staple pair of black jeans with an oversized sweater and combat boots for an effortless look on your way to the pumpkin patch this weekend.
For men, grab a flannel shirt to bundle up and add some comfort to your on the go outfit. Layering a flannel with a vintage jean jacket will do the trick when the temperatures drop. As a final touch, grab your favorite pair of leather boots.
While fall is great for seasoned drinks and warm fuzzy fabrics, it is also a great time to experiment with your style. Be bold and don’t hold back this fall. If you are tight on a budget, hit up local thrift shops. They have a great selection of sweaters and miscellaneous vintage accessories.
