Student Senate unanimously approved D+ Improv Troupe as an official student organization on Thursday.
D+ Improv Troupe is open to all Drake University students.
The organization provides an outlet for students interested in performing improvisational comedy and provides entertainment for the Drake community.
Senate approved the motion for the proposal to allocate up to $80,000 for the renovation of the D-Shoppe Space inĀ OlmstedĀ Center.
The former D-Shoppe will be turned into a multi-purpose, collaborative student space.
Senate plans to fund it with the Quasi-Endowment Fund, the unspent student activities fees from past years.
The creation of the multi-purpose space will not restrict funding opportunities for organizations or students within the current year or future years.
Senate also allocated $300 to Tricking Club to cover rental costs associated with the Apex Athletics facilities.
In senator reports, Sen. Mike Jennings is working to set up the Textbook Friend Book Exchange website.
Sen. Mark Rieter is looking into creating a campus-wide calendar set up and is exploring different software.
Sen. Ekta Haria spoke to the Director of the Health Center, who is a nurse practitioner, regarding having freely available condoms in Olmsted.
