A Drake  University student was robbed at gunpoint near Morehouse Residence Hall over the weekend.

Drake Security was called at 12:55 a.m. Sunday and was made aware that a student had been robbed at gunpoint near the intersection of University Avenue and 29th Street. His wallet, cellphone, credit cards and a black 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse were taken.

The suspects were two males wearing dark hoodies and dark pants. The suspects fled in a stolen vehicle.

The Des Moines Police Department partnered with Drake Security to search for the suspects in the area.

There were no injuries reported.

Scott Law, director of Drake Security, said because of the incident, patrols of campus and the surrounding area have been increased by both Drake Security and the Des Moines Police Department.

The DMPD has taken over the investigation of the incident.

The police department recently said it has surveillance photos found after the suspects used the victim’s credit cards in the Des Moines area.

The car has since been recovered.
