Senate unanimously approved Bulldog Paws as a new official student organization on Thursday.
Bulldog Paws is open to all Drake students. The organization gives students the opportunity to volunteer at and raise money for a local animal shelter.
Student Senate is considering changes to the campus organization approval process. The new policy would require students to complete a vision statement before acceptance as an official organization.
Senate also plans to implement an annual outreach to ask organizations about their goals.
Student Senate allocated funds to three campus organizations on Thursday.
Funds of $2,959.84 were allocated to Celebrate Drake to cover costs for chalk fight supplies. It’s the largest amount Senate has allocated this semester.
Senate allocated $487.00 for the Secular Student Alliance to cover transportation and lodging costs to bring a speaker to campus.
Senate allocated $275.00 to the Drake Community Press Stories + Sounds to cover venue and musician costs.
In officer reports, Vice President of Student Life Joey Gale announced the two first-year senator candidates, Jared Freemon and Nathan Jacobson.
Sen. Josh Schoenblatt said Goodwin-Kirk Residence Hall now has a printer in the lobby as a trial this semester.
Sen. Jacob VanderVaart said that in response to complaints about Hubbell Dining Hall, Senate is currently looking into getting a menu schedule posted.
