UNI is currently ranked fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference and an upset could’ve kept Drake’s playoff hopes alive, but the loss ended them definitively. Drake will not be participating in the MVC Playoffs in 2015.

Recaps from the last week in Drake Athletics. Both Men’s and Women’s Basketball won their exhibition matches. Volleyball dropped back-to-back matches on the road. Rowing succeeded against Creighton on the Des Moines River.
Inconsistent is probably the best word to describe Drake volleyball’s play this season. Some matches against top tier opponents go right down to the wire, while the Bulldogs still struggle to put away lower level teams.
A road win against Bradley on Oct. 13 snapped a two match losing streak for the Bulldogs, but the good news ends there. Three road losses followed as Drake traveled to the University of Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois and Evansville.
In what is assuredly one of the toughest weekends the Bulldogs could face in terms of quality of opponent, Drake couldn’t manage to win a single set against either the Missouri State Bears or the Wichita State Shockers at home.

STORY BY ADAM ROGAN Drake volleyball team this year is to finish above .500 for the first time since 2010, a feat that no one on the current roster or coaching staff was around for. For the second weekend in a row, the Bulldogs went 2-2 in tournament play, their record holding at one game above .500.
